Getting up the mountain

An 8-person gondola links the town directly to the ski zone, with cabins leaving roughly every 30 seconds. The full ride takes about half an hour, though the queue can stretch past an hour on busy holiday mornings — worth knowing if you've booked a 09:30 lesson.

Stop 1 — Chalin Valog~15 min up

Skiers-only slopes and a couple of on-piste cafés — you can't walk in from town.

Stop 2 — Banderishka Polyanatop station

The main hub — most lifts, mountain chalets, and the usual meeting point for ski school.

Beginner terrain clusters low, around Banderishka Polyana; intermediate and advanced runs open up higher, toward Shiligarnik and Todorka.

The gondola plus a mix of 4- and 6-seat chairs, with surface lifts and rope tows for beginners and kids.

7 km floodlit run to town

A snowmaking-covered connector piste back down to Bansko, lit for evening runs — best for intermediate and advanced riders.

Buying your pass without losing an hour to it

01Buy the evening before — gondola cash desks sell next-day passes from 16:30, and hotel sale points often run later still.

02Morning queues are real — the gondola opens at 08:00 but ticket desks open at 08:30, so arrive early if you've got a 09:30 lesson.

03A paid VIP fast-lane skips the gondola queue entirely — worth it on the busiest holiday weeks, sold at select hotels.

04Passes are personal and photo-checked at the lifts — they can't be shared between guests.
