Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 August 2026

Octopodis LTD, trading as Old School Ski ("we", "us"), operates a booking service for ski and snowboard equipment rental and lessons in Bansko, Bulgaria. The rental and the lessons themselves are supplied by a local partner shop. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you make a booking, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it.

1. What we collect

  • Booking contact: first and last name, email, phone number, and any comment you add.
  • Trip details: arrival/departure dates, number and age band of guests.
  • Per-participant details: name, sport, skill level, lesson preferences, boot size and height (both optional).
  • Payment data: your deposit is processed by our payment provider — we store the amount, method and status of that deposit, not full card numbers. The balance is paid to the shop directly and we never see how you paid it.
  • Transfer details (if you ask us to arrange one): flight number and arrival/departure dates, passed to the transfer provider so the driver can meet you.
  • Correspondence: emails you send us are pulled from our mailbox and filed onto your booking so staff can answer them. The full text is kept for 12 months and then deleted; the record that a message arrived stays with the booking.
  • Waitlist: if we're sold out and you ask to be told when dates free up, we keep your name, email and the dates you asked about, and delete the entry on request.

2. Why we collect it

To place your booking with the shop, tell it what to prepare and when, schedule instructors, coordinate pickup and transfers, send your booking confirmation, and meet our tax and accounting obligations. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

In legal terms: we process this data to perform our contract with you (and take the steps you ask for before it), to comply with legal obligations such as tax and company record-keeping, and for our legitimate interest in running, securing and defending this service.

3. Who we share it with

Our payment processor (to take your deposit), our email provider (to send confirmations), our database and hosting providers (which store this data on our behalf as processors), the partner shop assigned to your booking, and — only if you ask us to arrange one — the transfer provider and its driver. The shop receives what it needs to fit your gear and run your lessons, and no more; the transfer provider receives your name, phone number and flight details, and no more. Because each of them then deals with you directly, they handle those details as their own controllers under their own privacy notices. Beyond those, we don't share data with anyone, and we never sell it.

Some of these providers store data outside the UK and the EU. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the safeguards the UK and EU GDPR require — an adequacy decision, or standard contractual clauses agreed with that provider.

4. How long we keep it

Booking and payment records are kept for 7 years, which covers the company-law record-keeping rules that apply to us and the tax rules that apply where the service is performed. The full text of emails you send us is kept for 12 months and then deleted automatically. You can ask us to delete contact details we don't need to retain for those purposes.

5. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or object to how we use it. Email hello@oldschoolski.com and we'll respond within one month. For data the shop holds about you as its own controller, we'll pass your request on and tell you who to contact.

Because we are established in the UK and the service is performed in the EU, both the UK GDPR and the EU General Data Protection Regulation can apply to your data. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or to the data protection authority where you live — for guests in Bulgaria, the Commission for Personal Data Protection.

6. Cookies

Our site stores only what it technically needs: a cookie for your chosen language, a sign-in cookie for staff, and your browser's own storage for a booking-in-progress on this device, your light-or-dark choice, and a note that you've dismissed the cookie notice. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies.

Booking Terms

Last updated: 10 August 2026

1. Who you are booking with

Octopodis LTD, trading as Old School Ski, is a company registered in England and Wales and acts as a booking agent. When you book, we arrange your equipment rental and any lessons with a partner shop in the resort, under a standing contract we hold with that shop.

That means two agreements exist. These terms are the one between you and us: the booking, the deposit, and everything promised on this page. The rental and the lessons are performed under a separate agreement between you and the shop, on its own equipment terms handed to you at pickup. We name the shop, with its address, on the payment page before you pay, and again in your confirmation email together with its phone number — you are never asked to pay a balance to a business we haven't named.

2. Booking & payment

Your booking is confirmed once your deposit (the percentage shown at checkout before you pay, and never less than €10) is charged. We take that deposit to hold the reservation with the shop. The remaining balance is paid directly to the shop on your first day, by cash or card — we never collect it and never ask you to send it to us.

Prices are quoted per participant, per day, in EUR, and are the final amount payable for the services shown. Octopodis LTD is not VAT registered and adds no VAT to your booking; any Bulgarian tax due on the shop's charges is already included in the price you see. Nothing is added at checkout. An airport transfer, if you ask for one, is quoted separately and paid to the driver — see section 6; it is not part of the total or the deposit.

3. What's included

Standard and Premium sets include skis or a board, poles (skis only) and boots for the days booked. Helmet, jacket & pants, and the damage waiver are optional paid extras, selected by you — nothing is added automatically. Boot size and ski/board length are optional at booking; if left unset, the shop fits you at pickup at no extra charge, and sizes can be swapped free at any point during your trip.

4. Equipment condition & responsibility

The equipment belongs to the shop and is checked out to you under its rental terms. You're responsible for it while you have it: damage beyond normal wear, loss and theft are charged by the shop at the repair or replacement value those terms set out.

The optional damage waiver is the shop's own: buy it, and the shop does not charge you for accidental damage to or loss of the equipment. We arrange and collect it as the shop's agent. It is not insurance, we are not an insurer or an insurance intermediary, and it does not replace travel or medical cover. The waiver does not apply to gross negligence or to use outside marked pistes.

5. Lessons

Lessons are delivered by the shop's instructors. Group lessons meet daily at the advertised time and location; private and individual lessons run at your booked time slot. Instructors may adjust groups by skill level on the day. Lesson fees are non-refundable for no-shows, though we'll always try to reschedule with the shop where possible.

6. Airport transfers — arranged, not sold

If you ask for an airport transfer, we arrange it with a local transfer provider and pass on your flight details. We quote the fare, but we do not sell the ride and we take no payment for it: your contract for the transfer is directly with the transfer provider, and you pay the driver on arrival. The fare is shown separately at checkout and is not part of your booking total or your deposit.

Because we take no money for the transfer, your booking here is a rental and instruction booking to which we have arranged an onward travel service. It is not a package under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018, and you do not have the rights that apply to packages — in particular, we are not the organiser of a package and no insolvency protection is required for transfer money, because none of it is ever held by us. Rental and instruction are covered by these terms and by your agreement with the shop, as set out above.

To change or cancel a transfer, tell us and we'll pass it on. Nothing is refunded by us because nothing was paid to us; anything already agreed with the transfer provider is between you and them.

7. Fitness to participate

Skiing and snowboarding carry inherent risk of injury. By booking, you confirm participants are reasonably fit for the activity and lesson level selected. We recommend independent travel/medical insurance in addition to any waiver purchased here.

8. Our responsibility, and the shop's

We are responsible for arranging your booking accurately, for holding and returning your deposit under the cancellation policy, for passing your requirements to the shop, and for the information we publish here. The shop is responsible for the equipment it supplies and the instruction it delivers.

If something goes wrong on the ground, tell us anyway: we hold the contract with the shop and will take it up on your behalf. To the extent permitted by law, our liability under these terms is limited to the total value of the booking we arranged. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here limits any rights you have directly against the shop or the transfer provider.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of the country you live in, and you may also bring proceedings there. Your separate agreements with the shop and, where you book one, with the transfer provider are governed by Bulgarian law, where those services are performed.

10. Language

These documents are written and published in English. Translations into other languages are provided for convenience only, so you can read what you are agreeing to before you agree to it. If a translation and the English text differ, the English text is the one that binds.

Cancellation & Refunds

Last updated: 10 August 2026
72h
before pickup for a full refund
Free
size & date swaps, any time before pickup

1. Cancelling before pickup

Cancel more than 72 hours before your pickup time and your deposit is refunded in full, to your original payment method. We issue the refund the same business day — we hold the deposit, so it needs nothing from the shop — and your bank or card issuer typically shows it within 5–10 business days. Cancel within 72 hours, or don't show up, and the deposit is forfeited to cover reserved gear and instructor time. Nothing else is charged: the balance was never taken.

2. If we cancel

If we or the shop have to cancel your booking for any reason other than your breach of these terms — the shop can no longer honour the dates, we made an error, the service can't be provided — your deposit is refunded in full and without delay, and we will first offer you an alternative date or shop if you want one.

3. Changing your booking

Dates, participant counts, gear and lesson choices can be changed free of charge any time before pickup, subject to availability — contact us and we'll adjust your booking with the shop and re-send the updated summary.

4. Once your trip has started

Once your trip has started, nothing is refundable. The gear was reserved and the instructor time was booked for the days you chose, and both came out of the shop's stock for that week whether or not they are used.

If you have to stop early, tell us anyway — we would rather know, and we will pass it on to the shop. Anything you have already paid the shop directly is a matter between you and them.

5. Lift or resort closures

Rental and lesson fees are for equipment and instruction, not lift access, so they can't be refunded for weather or lift closures outside anyone's control. If the resort is fully closed for your entire booked period, we'll reschedule your booking to another date at no charge, or return your deposit if no date works.

6. Optional extras

The damage waiver, premium gear and the extras you tick at checkout are part of your booking and follow the same 72-hour rule. Before pickup you have only ever paid the deposit, so a cancellation in the free window returns it in full — and the balance, extras included, was never taken.

An airport transfer is different, because we never take money for it: we arrange it and you pay the driver on arrival (Booking Terms, section 6). Cancel your booking and we cancel the transfer with it — there is nothing for us to refund, and nothing was charged. If you only want to drop or move the transfer, tell us and we'll pass it on.

7. Your statutory cancellation rights

If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, contracts made at a distance usually carry a 14-day right of withdrawal. That right does not apply to this booking: services related to leisure activities are exempt where the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance (regulation 28(1)(h) of the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013; article 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU), and your booking reserves equipment and instruction for the specific dates you chose. The 72-hour free-cancellation right on this page is our contractual promise and applies instead. Nothing on this page limits rights the law does not allow to be limited.

8. How to request a refund

Email hello@oldschoolski.com or call +359 88 555 0192 with your booking reference. We issue eligible refunds of the deposit the same business day.
